The V means it has the 915 chipset...........

the letter that follows depicts something else........

"C" means it has Asus mobile theater and a hybrid tv tuner
"B" means it has Windows MCE and an analog tv tuner

.... you can't just get the "V".. it's either Vb or Vc...... Media Center Edition is a much better program for a LOT of reasons.

But isn't a hybrid tuner better than an analog tuner?

(Not that I have a choice. Here they only sell the W1Vc model...)

Well the hybrid technically could be called "better", but the digital side is for over the air digital and they don't work in the US. Obviously you're not here...... you may be able to use it..... and that's the reason they sell only the Vc model there....... but you'll have to live without MCE (which I would take any day over Asus Mobile Theater) ....... but you'll get by.

Are there any alternatives to MCE, besides the Asus Mobile Theater? I've seen some mention of Meedio. Is Meedio Pro something I should consider?

I can't help you that......... I know that Asus' theater software is made by ulead I believe..... but that Meedio looks good.

I'll pick up a trial version at Meedio as soon as my laptop arrives, and will let you/others know whether their product is any good... ;-)

Hmm, interesting... I'd also asked the exact same question to ASUS support.
    I got the following reply:
    Code:
    Hi!
The CPU is at 2.13ghz instead of 2.0ghz.

    Best Regards

Not 100% sure what he means... :D

That depends on your location and what was ordered.... it's very possible that they have ordered both models and one had a different configuration....
