after talking to my parents about a notebooks for college, we finally agreed on either the W1N or W3V. i really like the look of both notebooks but the 15.4" WSXGA+ screen on the W1N is very attractive. gaming is no longer a priority for me but i would like it if i could watch a dvd on a plane/road trip with good to great quality. anyways im just looking to see what everyone thinks. which one would you get out of the two and why?

    thnx in advance

PS. guess i wont be getting that W1 refesh [ :(]

Since you brought plane/road trip into the equation, the W1N is a very large laptop, I know since my coworker has one. It's around 6-7 lbs as well which is the barrier I'd call heavy for a laptop. To me, the W1N is for desktop replacement and not for portability.

I have a W3V so I can tell you that it's much lighter/portable. Plus to top it off, the W3V has much better specs than the outdated W1N so you're also getting more bang for the buck. The only thing I can see the W1N has over the W3V is the bigger screen/resolution [but it's not a glossy screen], all aluminum design, and better sound quality.

I used a W3 on a plane this weekend and it seems ideal for that type of use. I know that the W1 would be way to big and bulky for that.

    Thanks,
