Does anyone have intel speedstep working under vista on the w3a/z63a laptop? Even with just a vanilla install (before loading any w3a specific vista drivers or even the atk driver, my cpu is pegged at its max rate (2ghz) under vista. Under linux or windows xp, the cpu alternates between 800mhz and 2ghz just fine.

I tried both 0503 and 0702 bioses, no difference. Are there vista specific DSDT changes one needs before vista will work properly on this laptop?

I know there is a problem with NHC being unable to properly adjust speeds dynamically under vista, but I don't have NHC loaded in my vista install.

This problem has been reported with other models. I don't remember a fix but I didn't watch these things very intently.

As a workaround solution, I suggest RMClock which can take over the duties of Intel Speedstep and handle the CPU speed according to load all by itself.

Yes, even non-asus models. It seems like vista is simply not supporting intel speedstep, but it can't be that simple, can it? I've read other posts claiming that speedstep works without any drivers required. Guess I'll try rmclock - my system gets too hot if it stays at the max cpu speed.
