I just received my new v1s-b1 on monday and opened it yesterday...i plugged in the charger and let it charge over night and when i woke up it was still at 50%. right now its at a constant 37% and it hasnt changed since i plugged in the charger. Also i tried playing lost coast at 29%(dont know why it jumped from 29 to37%) and the computer shut itself down...

    any suggestions =)?

You might try a battery calibration in BIOS.

Most likely just a bad battery, there are some threads around dealing with similar issues. Do a search for Battery wear.

Try this, This is referred to as callibration, Run the battery down to 0%, Windows will probally turn itself off at 5%, restart and sit in bios (Hit F2 during boot up) until the battery dies, Now remove the battery, boot into windows, If youre lucky your battery will show 0% and will be charging normally, If youre unlucky, your battery is faulty but now you know for sure. This happened to me when I had the modular battery in the first time I used it, I did the above and it fixed it for me. Best of luck.

To finish matt's procedure, just put the battery in while notebook unplugged, plug it in the power socket and start windows.

To do batt calibration in the "proper" sense:

Start BIOS by pressing F2, and then look for the Battery Calibration option. Let the battery charge to full (whatever the full is and if it charges at all) and then discharge.

If you still have the problems after that you're probably having a bad battery.

Actually I recommend keeping the battery out until windows reboots, I tried it both ways and with it in and booted it still had 2% wear (Down from 5-6) boot first and then insert gave me 0% wear. Also im fairly sure there isnt a battery calibration option in the bios for the V1s except for the modular battery, Strange I know.

Eh, just send the battery in for replacement then. If you're lucky you have a new one in a week.

Phone number for Asus 24/7 tech support:

    1-888-678-3688 option #3

Also I have been waiting for my battery for a good week now and have heard nothing from Asus as to when they will ship out my new one. I really don't understand the delay. It's not like they are trying to fix the one I sent them. The phone tech specifically told me it would be a swap and even the email I got from online tech support says they would ship the new battery shortly after receiving the old one. *sigh* ...Asus is not exactly 'wow'ing me right now.
