Has anyone with a UX51VZ or UX51VZ-XB71 done the upgrade to Windows 10 from 8.1?
If so what is not supported?
I bought the laptop 2 years ago. Asus isn't supporting 10.1 drivers on this model.

You can still get away with some Win8.1 drivers, but if not then you can utilize station-drivers to obtain Win10 drivers.

I have had quite the nightmare with my UX51VZ-XB71, but so far, it has been mostly with the Nvidia driver(s)(nightmare) and the touchpad driver not providing scrolling(which isn't the nightmare, or even an existent issue, relatively speaking). Even after installing the last known working Nvidia driver for the(the most up to date drivers haven't been a success, for me). Every time I have installed up-to-date Nvidia drivers(through my own stored downloads, through the Geforce program, or through the Windows Update avenue), even with Windows 8.1, the driver would throw up errors, and I would have to reinstall an older version(340.52 is the last known working driver I have been able to get working with Windows 8.1, though I would like to know if anyone has had success with more up-to-date drivers, up to and including 355.60).

With Windows 10, either the Nvidia driver install either reverts to "safe mode"-style display mode(stuck at 1024x768, greyed out dropdown menu) or goes with the irritating "black screen" after the all-blue Windows Icon shows, during boot up. I guess I will have to go with a totally fresh install, but I don't expect much joy with that option. I haven't used this laptop much(I have a 4770K, MSI Z87 XPower, 32 GB RAM Desktop and two MacBook Pro Retina Late 2013 laptops(both purchased new, though cheap, through a group deal)), and have only installed Windows updates, an Antivirus(Kaspersky Total Security 15.0.1), and VLC to watch videos from desktop, over network. I am about to attempt to install the Nvidia driver posted on the Asus website, for the UX51VZ. If that doesn't work, I will be calling Asus, and seeing what I can get from those(whom seem to have all been rather useless) people. I am about a month away from my warranty ending(I bought my UX51VZ-XB71 in September 2014).

I'm running 355.60 right now without problems - however I have the U500V/UX51 with a FHD screen so our configuration isn't 100% the same.

UX51VZ-XB71, Windows 10 Pro (in place upgraded from 8 to 8.1 to 10)
So I completed my update to Windows 10. The biggest issue I have is with the ASUS Smart Gesture. If I use version 2.1.3, it runs OK with some limited issues. When I update to 4.x: When I use certain applications like Excel and Outlook 2013/365.. I will click on a blank and start typing but it wont recognize I am typing until I click again on that same blank.. it could be the body of an e-mail, could be entering a name on the "to:" line it could be a cell on an Excel spreadsheet, etc.. I also get limited movement... its almost like the driver doesn't recognize my 2880 x 1620 screen..more like it thinks its 1920 x 1200 or something like that.. very short movements on the pad compared to the 2.1.3 driver. And I have played with the mouse setting for Motion Speed and Enhanced precision on and off. Windows keeps wanting to update the driver to version 4.x and failing but occasionally it successfully does this and I have to uninstall 4.x and go back to 2.x

It has been a while since I last posted in this thread, but I wanted to give an update, and ask a question.

    First, the update:

For some reason, I had Lucid Virtu MPV Driver installed on my Zenbook Prime UX51VZ-XB71. I have a i7-4770K-based desktop, with a MSI Z87 Xpower(which, I regret, mostly due to the ridiculously long boot time, due to badly implemented BIOS/UEFI. The issue is that the time required to get through the POST screens and finally to Windows actually booting takes forever to load. Once the blue Windows icon pops up, bootup is very acceptable, with my Samsung 840 Pro, but I digress...), and I apparently, during a late night of tinkering, installed the Lucid software onto my laptop. Once I uninstalled that(I also uninstalled my Kaspersky Total Security 15 install, too; though that was a "to save time" measure. I kept Kaspersky Total Security 15 installed on my desktop during the Windows 10 update, and has no issue at all).

In short, or "tl;dr": Make sure any and all non-Nvidia(or ATI, if one has an issue on another computer with AMD-based GPUs) drivers, hacks, cracks, etc.

Now, I have an issue where the trackpad on my Asus Zenbook Prime UX51VZ-XB71 is rather irritating to use, but it isn't completely useless. The "left click" and "right click" division on the trackpad is rather different, and I cannot scroll with my trackpad at all. Has anyone found a solution, as Asus finally considered, you know, support UX51VZ-XB71 owners(the laptop not only can easily run Windows 10, but some customer, like myself, didn't purchase the laptop that long ago), or is Asus still refusing to support Windows 10 on the model?

So far, everything else seems to be working fine. Though, as a last question, is there an update keyboard driver/program(setting function and "special" keys, etc) for Windows 10? I have found a few, small issues, but nothing near as irritating as the trackpad problem.

Install the smart gesture software, but be prepared for less gestures and functionality when compared to Windows 8. Microsoft will also replace the drive once in a while, so keep the smart gesture installer handy, because you'll likely need to reinstall.

You'll want to install the latest ATK drivers as well.

    Hi guys,

I absolutely agree with Montezuma. Asus is completely crazy and support was a disaster about Windows 10 upgrade.

My UX51VZ has three great and annoying issues:

Touchpad: scroll "overlap" left click and right click so when you try to use them the selection is not precise.
HDMI: a lot of problem playing video.
Second Monitor: it doesn't fit well in the second display only. it doesn't work in duplicate display.

    Anybody can help me?

    Thanks.
