I am trying to get a Linux distro installed as my main OS. I do not need Windows 8, however, I do need to enable CSM support. The problem is, I cannot find the CSM and the Secure Boot option in my BIOS. I am currently on 214 of the BIOS.

Are you running legacy BIOS or UEFI? CSM emulates old BIOS so if you're in BIOS mode you probably have CSM enabled/functionality already. If you were running UEFI then you would see CSM as an option, if I'm not mistaken.

I am not sure which one I am using, I am using an EFI bootloader for a custom Linux distro.

    From Asus Support page:

Is CSM not listed under Boot options?

The CSM option is not there. I checked under both 'Boot' and 'Security'.

    You can't downgrade BIOS anymore.

Do you have the same version like mine?

The one I was tested is with Windows 8 out of the box and that's probably why.

That being the case then it could very well be a legacy BIOS instead of UEFI, which would explain why you don't see the CSM option. The CSM would not be in the firmware if this is the case.

It's UEFI BIOS also even with Windows 7 models. Some early UEFI BIOS does not have CSM enable in the BIOS because it's made for Windows 7. CSM is optional only for laptops shipped with Windows 8.

MSI notebooks shipped with Windows 8 is UEFI also but does not have CSM enable, so if you want want to install Windows 7 then change to Legacy mode is the only way.

That clears up as to why I do not have those options. Windows 8 and my second Linux install works fine.
