    UX310UQ Windows 7 install not starting

    Hi everyone,

    Long time I didn't post here... I cannot get the Win7 install process to start for a new UX310UQ. I created a USB key with Rufus. It gets to "A required CD/DVD driver is missing". I tried loading drivers manually for:
    - Intel(R)_USB_3.0_eXtensible_Host_Controller_Driver_5.0.4.43
    - Intel_RST_RAID_driver_x64_14.5.0.1081

    with the idea that it does not recognize something properly either with the USB stick itself, or with the internal drives. It still does not work.

    Other things I tried:
    - booting from an external optical drive from the Windows DVD
    - trying USB 2 and 3 ports

    Any ideas? Thanks!

    PS:
    - if you have any ideas how to get the Win7x64 drivers easily (I got the two above via hardware IDs) it would also help
    - why not leave Win10? because it tries to be my boss rather than the other way around (nevermind the privacy issues)

    Finally I could try this and it works! I managed to install Win7, thanks a lot for that.

    A few followup questions if you can help.
    1. (essential) I can't get the touchpad to work. The Win10 driver fails to complete installing, and I can't even see it in the device manager to get its hardware ID...
    2. There is an 'Unknown device" with ID "ACPI\INT3400" which apparently is related to the Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework Management -- which I did install a driver for via HP. The separate device for that went away but this one didn't...
    3. (nonessential) The dedicated 940MX GPU doesn't play nice with the integrated one. I installed the two drivers separately but I got a bluescreen related to some power state. Then the dedicated GPU gets a popup on each boot "cannot remove this device, it's not removable" or along those lines. I uninstalled the driver and disabled the dedicated GPU, if you have any ideas here let me know. But again, this is not essential the laptop works well with the Intel GPU.

    I also skipped a couple of Intel AMT-related things, DEV_9D3A and ACPI\MSFT0101, in case this matters.

    Still not clear that things are behaving nicely wrt power draw and so on, but for now I need to fix the touchpad as that's a dealbreaker if it doesn't work...

    PS: I can make a guide for this if anyone cares...

    Back re. power management. CPU and GPU clock scaling and power draw work fine. However I get this error during "powercfg -energy" (even though the power profile sets Max Power Saving for PCI Express):
    PCI Express Active-State Power Management (ASPM) has been disabled due to a known incompatibility with the hardware in this computer.

    I have a feeling it is related either to number 3 or 2 on my list above... most likely the GPU without a driver is incapable to going to low power mode. So solving the dual GPU issue would likely help with this.
