can anyone tell me what the ideal first steps would be after unpacking the ux31? a lot of the info is scattered in a 300 pages thread and i find it hard to puzzle it together...

    - i'm with bios 209, should that be updated to 211?
    - should i update ALL drivers? in what order (if that matters)? i understand i should do this manually, not through asus liveupdate
    - which of the bloatware should not be uninstalled?
    - any other recommendations?

thanks in advance for all advices...

touchpad has been giving me hell under different elantech drivers as well as most recent ones. it's 'okay' right after a fresh install through F9 at startup, but after the bunch of windows updates and updating drivers for chipset, vga, usb etc, somewhere in between there is an issue with the touchbad and it becomes slower, less responsive, and inaccurate. i couldn't figure out what drivers affected or led to this behavior. tried all different elantech drivers, changed settings and also regedit for more options, tried system restore back to before updating drivers etc etc, it just wouldn't get back to being acceptable.

i might have to return this device although i wanted to love it :( it doesn't look like there is any other comparable notebook out there with this resolution, ssd, battery life, weight and appearance. i bought it from amazon and luckily i can get a full money refund thanks to distance selling regulations.

I suggest a clean install. If you install yourself and install just necessary Asus drivers, you will see that there is no problem with Zenbook and it will work much faster and better than current one.
