    Hi All,

I have finally purchased a Zenbook UX303LA-R4338H from Amazon after spending far to many months deciding what to buy! After leaning from Macbook pro 13, to New Dell XPS 13 and researching them all to death I finally settled on the Zenbook with the latest processor & HD screen on value for money and upgrading ability - hoping they have sorted out the niggles others have had on previous models, too.
I'm not overly savvy on computers so would appreciate any advice on the below.

I'm looking to upgrade the SSD from the rather petite 128gb and have looked at the Samsung 850 Pro 512gb SSD - how do you rate this drive? Reviews look good on Amazon and apparently the Pro drives don't suffer with the declining write speeds that the non pro drives did?

Is there much \any difference between the 840 & 850 drives other than evolution?

Which RAM would be required to upgrade to Max capacity and is there any limitations in over-grading it? Is there any detriment to battery life by upgrading?

I'm also looking at additional power sources, are there any recommendations on large power banks that can be used to keep the battery charged for longer without causing any detrimental damage? Something along the lines of this below?

If anyone can point me in the direction of a quality screen cover - preferably glass? I think I'll be just about set to use it!

Just a final thought - is there any news on Windows 10 coming to Zenbooks, will mine be out of date before it arrives & will ASUS support the new operating system?

Any other comments / thoughts on the zenbook I would be interested to hear from you.

    Cheers

Samsung SSD's are the cream of the crop. Both the 850 Evo and 850 Pro will perform very reliably for you. I have used two Samsung SSD's (an 830 and an 840 Evo) and will definitely buy Samsung again when the time comes.

Your new laptop will easily upgrade to Windows 10 when it is available later this year. From what I have heard, the process to upgrade to Windows 10 will happen through the Windows Update system and will be painless. That's a good thing because you probably won't get any assistance from Asus.

"Much," not exactly. The Pro does perform better, and I believe it uses MLC whereas the EVO uses TLC. Both are excellent drives, though.

No, battery life is up to the battery's potential. Also, it's best if you stick with the OEM charger. Generic ones are more liable to cause damage, of which would not be covered by Asus under warranty.

You might need to confer with Asus on that. You can try the Windows 10 technical preview for free (just be sure to back up your recovery partition before you do) to see how it performs on this model. Windows 7 and 8(.1) users will be able to upgrade to 10 for free within a limited time of 10's release, supposedly, so there's that too. :)

No info on a screen cover, unfortunately. That will be something you'll have to shop around for and check out reviews on. Good luck!
