I bought laptop about a month ago, but until few days ago I havn't noticed this problem - laptop is pretty hot on right side - right palm rest. Heat emerges uder right Ctrl key. After reviewing dissasembly manual, I have concluded that only thing it could be is wlan card. I wouldn't be so preocupied, but on a sticker under the screen is written "Ice cool palm rest".

    Should I worry?
Will it consume my battery life?
    Do you know any solutions?

    Welcome to the forum!

We need some details as to when and under what circumstances you are having this heat issue so we can help you with better advice, but here is what I believe is the cause of your issue.

LAN cards don't heat up ... this is most likely the HDD, which is middle right in the UL30 chassis and directly underneath the keyboard at the edge (i.e. very near the right Ctrl key). HDDs tend to warm up during periods of sustained use, and will transfer the heat to . This is normal and no cause for concern - be sure that you're using it on a hard and flat surface, and not blocking the air intake vents directly below the HDD access panel (which will further heat up the drive since cool air can't get in next to the HDD)

Well, there isn't any particular circumstance - right after powering on temperature starts to rise.
I checked hard disk from bottom side and it is not as warm as place i described.
I also tried to turn off wireless, and tempreture decreases (tried only twice so it might be a coincidence).
I'm using Win7 so I checked what's the situation with Ubuntu, and there is heat as well.
I have also noticed that evry now and then (no obsevable cause) temperature decreases to normal.
And only thing that coincides (but I doubt it has any meaning) with heat issue is that I got back to university (while i was at home i didn't notice any heat) so i'm using university wirless now that is pretty slow buggy.
And I'm using my laptop on my desk and nothing blocks air vents.
