U53Jc - Releasing soon??

Of all the new models Asus announced at CES (including the K, N, and U series), the only ones they haven't released are the U series ("bamboo"), and that's exactly the one I really want! I can find NOTHING online about a possible time frame for release for any of the models they announced - the U33Jt, the U83Jc, the U53F, or the U53Jc (the one I REALLY have my heart set on!).

Is there anyone out there who knows, or could possibly find out, if Asus plans to release the U series (and if so, when?), or if they've scrapped them? If they've chosen not to release them at all, then I can put aside my lust for them and just get myself an N61 and live with it.

I'm interested too... the U30Jc in particular. I hope they can put a better card than 310M :|

 

They're resellers. Ken represents GenTechPC, Justin represents XoticPC, and Donald represents Power Notebooks. Since resellers have a direct line to Asus, they generally know more about the upcoming release schedule than others (although they are often bound by non-disclosure agreements).

 

I'm also looking for the U53... I wonder when it will be released in Canada.

I don't know what the difference is between the U30Jc and the UL30Jc, but the UL30Jc was just released at xoticpc, in case anyone's interested. It isn't one of the bamboo models, but it does look pretty nice.

For the people (like myself) who are waiting eagerly for the new bamboo model U series, Justin at xoticpc says, "At this time this is not in the latest ASUS February forecasts."

That's a huge bummer, if you ask me. I can't WAIT to get my hands on one of these suckers!

 

I made a call to Asus today to see if I could get some info about the U53Jc, and the person I talked to didn't know anything.

I don't want to give up on this bamboo beauty, but I may have to, unless someone else knows something...

 

i neeeeeeeeed the u83jc/u53jc!

i've been having to deal with my current 2.5y/o toshiba satellite with 2/3 of a working LCD for 6 months and i dont know if can wait any longer. i may just have to pick up a vaio

Glare display. That's what i mean.
I don't want to have a mirror. Even at home it will be problematic because there are many windows and it is really light.
