Hey guys, i was searching the forum for this masterpiece but found nothing. how is that?
a 14" laptop in a 13" body with insane specs such as i7 2640 (i7 2860QM 8MB cache option available) 250 GB ssd as default storage and geforce 610m 1Gb ddr3 (apparently 2Gb is available as an option too) , finger print reader and ... add to that the "nano-coated alloy body" and the extra thin bezel. wow!
it's still pre-order and I'am dying to get one.
any info on release date? and if it will have the matte type screen or not?

its just the updated u36sd with a bigger screen. I wonder if i can put the bigger screen in my u36. I would probably have to get a new bezel though

i too think the screen change would work, i know it's the updated u36 but the best just got better. any way i wonder how hard is it for asus to put keyboard back light in its products.

I currently owe u36sd. I was 90% happy with my choice but the noise created by HD (7200 rpm) after 2 hours of work was unbearable. Had to upgrade to Crucial M4-CT128. Now it’s very comfortable. The choice of SSD is a plus.
The move to 14" is the right one. But LCD (1366x768) sounds archaic. It is definitely time to move to IPS display (maybe optional. there are guys out there, ready to pay for quality). And it must be matt!! The quality of my display is inferior to even external LCD displays 2-3 years old. Glossy basal is just annoying!
Hopefully Asus will introduce Ivy Bridge soon too. All USB ports should be USB 3.0. They could introduce a better webcam too.
I don’t miss keyboard back light. I would rather distract me. Current keyboard is just perfect to me, though touchpad scrolling does not always work. My previous Gateway had a separate strip for scrolling and always worked well.
Hope guys from Asus occasionally read this forum and take into consideration our remarks.
