First, I'm wondering which 1GB module will have the best compatibility with the factory 1GB module that came in my A8Jm. CPU-Z simply shows "FFFFFFFF" as the manufacturer for the factory module, so I'm not sure what to order.

Second, if I should decide to get a pair of something new, will DDR2-667 modules even work at 667 speeds? I know the Core Duo FSB can run up to 667, but the default memory that came with mine is 533 and I can't find any memory options in the BIOS, so I just want to be sure that using 667 will not give the laptop fits. Yes I know 667 is CAS 5 and won't make any difference, but if it won't make any difference and the price is the same, I'd like to enjoy the placebo of running the memory in synch with the CPU bus ;)

Third, I usually prefer Corsair for memory, but I have found a curious pricing irregularity. Their value 533 and 667 GB modules are about $85 apiece, but the module they recommend for the A8Jm appears to be a third type which I guess is supposed to be "OEM compatible" and costs a whopping $165 per 1GB module!!! What gives with that? Shouldn't the regular modules be just fine

Hey, not sure about the first question, for 2nd question... yes they should run at 667 no problems... mine was upgraded to 667 also and didn't have any hickups...

I'm using the corsair value 667... so not sure about using that third type thingy.... any links? Maybe it has lower CAS?

In any case, try contacting your reseller and asking these questions, they should have better answers for you..

when our customers upgrade A8Jm to 2G memory, we will put 2 x 1G 667 in, and keep the factory 533 memory on our hand @ CD$120 or US$108.

A side note, from a Canadian distributor website ( Supercom ), A8Jm has been removed from product list.
