Xoticpc has the option of upgrading the thermal compound to either Arctic Silver 5 or IC Diamond. Does this void the ASUS warranty like I read that upgrading the CPU does? I was thinking of getting IC Diamond for the CPU + GPU for $43. Is it worth it?

Doubt it voids anything or they wouldn't do it. IC diamond is very much worth it as it will shave around 5C off your load temps compared with artic silver 5 and other competitors. Have a look online first though as it might be cheaper to buy it and apply it yourself.

I assume that would void the warranty. Wouldn't it?

If I recall, resellers like Xoticpc usually puts on a brand new sticker after placing new thermal compound on cpu/gpu. But best contact them and ask before you decide
