I was looking at NewEgg the other day and found this. The product listed is the Asus G50VT-X5 which is basically a G50VT-X2 with a 2.53 GHz P8700 CPU instead of the 2.4 GHz P8600. Both the X2 and X5 are listed as out of stock and deactivated now.

Any speculation on there being any changes to the G50VT-A models?

I dont know but I think Asus is going a little too nuts... They are making to many version of this laptop and that just causes problems when they need to do warranty because they have to keep so many diffrent parts in stock.

Half of these things are so close in price its like why did they make both models? They should have just made the ones a few bucks more with the better CPU and stop making these lower end cpu ones. $50 more wont make or break someone, lol.

I mean its good they make so many options because it gives the buyer more to pick from but its nuts... Not like we are talking about a custom build to order notebook here... They should have just done that though, lol.

I just hope they dont make anything better than the G50vt-a2 anytime soon because they already smacked people with the G50v's when the VT came out, and I would hate to be included in that smack now as I am sure many others would.. :p

So far the Best Buy version is the cheapest! :D Hopefully it will be on sale somewhere since I'm in the market for a g50vt!

I wish they just would give more color options... hehe I like the non-orage ones better but the orange actually was not as bad as I thought once I got it... But the non-orange ones are lower ends... I guess they figure the people who get the more expensive ones want to "feel" cooler...

The few things I think they did dumb on is should have used DDR3... Yea I know speed wouldnt be much better because its faster on the MHZ but slower on the times, but it would have gave more OC room, but also DDR3 uses less power.. That and if they would have used P9500 instead of T9400 (same speed, cache and all just less power) and put the 15.6" screen on them all as the darn case is so big already mine as well make use of it these would have been KILLER!!! Not that they are not already but hey!.

I actually liked the silver/blue theme from Best Buy more than the orange... especially the overlay graphics on the lid.

Asus needs to copy dell.. Allow you to pick your own... That crap would be hot... Dell would go out of business, LOL

Oh man, I'm already feeling buyer's remorse. Well, I needed the notebook, so I should just be happy. But yeah, a 25W processor and DDR3 would help out the battery life, not that most G50V(t) buyers care about that much.

Do not copy Dell. Imho, if Asus tries to expand too quickly, their quality and customer service will take a hit, and I really don't want them to become another Dell.

hmmm i wonder if the new p9600 are gonna come out with this new generation? This cpu was already announed its probably gonna be great now THAT id really like to see this is still nice though.

Also its gonna have a 2.8ghz clocked you overclock that to like 3.2 and you should be good for a long time to come.
