I have TF2 A Steam game and i was wondering if anyone else had the problem where they can not use voice communication. For some reason it won't let me use the mic, and that goes along with in the steam chat i can't use my mic. It just doens't pick it up. But the ironic thing is that my mic works in DOD, CS, DOD:S, and all the other games. Did anyone have the same problems? What should i try and do?

my mic hasn't worked with like anything since I got it =P I didn't buy it for the mic though, so it doesn't bother me.

Long story short, it is probably a compatibility issue, and regardless you would probably be better off with a 30 dollar logitec headset anyway.

My mic works in TF2 but even at a high gain setting people had trouble hearing me, I honestly wouldnt use any kind of mic for voice chat other than a headset type for obvious reasons that you eliminate feedback from the games sounds and other enviromental noises and it allows you to talk instead of yell.

You have to set your headset as the recording device in windows (the default one) its probably still defaulted to your microphone on the laptop, then make sure to raise the gain settings and things too and see if that helps.

I was stuck on this as well. I found that muting the Stereo mix fixes everything. As well as turning on Noise Suppression and Echo Cancellation.

^Clean out and tweak your install of Windows. Get rid of unnecessary programs running//disable services that you don't really use. Put in a solid driver such as 169.04, find yourself a stable overclock on whatever video card you have (assuming 8600m GT). Perhaps 550/450ish. I've found these settings to be playable. 1680x1050, All High Settings, 0xAA, 4/8xAF, No HDR (I hate it personally), Motion Blur On, Color Correction Off (Again personal preference). If you don't care for the FPS at those settings, drop down to 1440x900...1280x800...and so forth.
