hey guys, Im really at a loss of what to do right now and if would be godly if you guys could help me.
So, it all started when my computer decided to turn on at 3:00AM in the morn to do a stupid windows update. I woke up and proceeded to just hold the power button to turn off the computer the computer was in the login stage. Now, whenever I turn it on, it loads normally until the login stage. Once there, instead of allowing me to login, it says Configuring updates. Stage 3 of 3 - 0%. After a minute or two, it just shuts down by itself. It then turns on again and just repeats the whole cycle. Can anyone please help me or have I really screwed up my computer?

    thanks

Could this be the Vista update bug that was reported a few weeks ago, where some bad code in one of their Tuesday updates (which MS later pulled) was causing endless reboots of a few systems during the update? I thought there was supposed to be a fix or workaround on the MS site for that issue.

See this article and this one at PCWorld from mid-Feb discussing the issue.

Possible additional solution threads from Google:
Here, Here, Here, and Google search here

After trying to track these down, I think this is definitely the problem you are experiencing. This should be enough to get you started, and then you should turn off Automatic Updates and set to manual :). good luck, I hope you get it fixed.

thanks for the find clearskies. Only problem is that when I got my G1S, I never got a windows CD. All the CD's I have are the recovery DVD from Asus (if I do that, wille everything get wiped?) and another CD that just says G1S. I haven't found any other work around. Even tried to boot using media player (bottom button on G1S) and that didn't work. Im at a loss for what to do right now. Damn Vista so freaking stupid
