On nextdaypc they are showing 2 variants of the n53jf, N53JF-A1, and N53JF-XR1. The former is described as being silver aluminum in the title. Does this mean that the construction will be aluminum as opposed to plastic or does the A1 just cost more?

Aluminium plastic. It is not aluminium from what I understand.
Edit:
I did a search on nextdaypc.com after my alarm bell started to go off.
1. The website does not look very good.
2. The inventory is HUGE!
To spend all that time manually entering all that inventory to have a website like that? To have that kind of buying power to claim that level of inventory to have a storefront like that?

I think enough is said in there to let you stay away from them. They probably buy from numerous sources when you place your order and do a constant juggle.
Edit #2:
My Supplier had listed the XR1 as well but it disappeared. I am not sure who that variant is meant for, but they have the A1 now. -
Thanks for the response. I wasn't planning on buying from them anyways. I've just been doing occasional searches to see if the n53jf has gone on sale. Do we know the difference between the A1 and XR1 models yet?
