Im in Taiwan at the moment and I want a 13.3inch notebook with a 8400m card. Asus is very cheap here. I am considering the W7S

    I have 3 options.

    Both 1 and 2 have 1.5GB of Ram, Wireless N, Bluetooth, 8400M

    1. W7S 1.66GHz C2D, 200GB for 31500NTD ($926USD)

    2. W7S 2.0GHz T7300 C2D, 250GB for 36000NTD ($1058USD)

    3. Wait for Penryn/9300M Refresh

    So guys....what should I do?

Maybe you want to post in the what should I buy forum for more suggestions.

In any case, we need to know more about what you need.

Another advantage of the refresh is the upgrade of the soldered RAM to 1GB.

I suppose with the W7Sg refresh you would get slightly better battery life out of the Penryn CPU and native DirectX10.1 support with the 9300M GPU. However I would imagine W7Sg would be quite expensive if you get it when it launches... much like my W7S when I got it. But if time and money isn't a problem it would probably suit you to wait for the W7Sg.

Option 1 would be a nice basic setup if you aren't in that much need of performance... just depends what you want out of your laptop.

If you wanted to get a W7S right now I would choose option 2 and then add a stick to get 2.5GB of RAM, though it's hard to recommend without knowing what kind of price/performance you want.

I like your suggestion. But...I dunno how it is in the USA, but in Taiwan, the 2.0GHZ only comes in white. Im afraid white will get dirty very quickly.

Is your W7 white or black?

My W7 is the black one. I saw the white one when I was in the shops and I must say it looks quite nice, but as you said it would get dirty faster. My friend has a white macbook which is a few years old and the keyboard got a bit gray in some places... though my sister has a white Toshiba Portege and the glossy white still looks very nice on it.
