    Hi,
this is something I never though I'd ever write. It's been 3 days since I've got my laptop, and tonight I wanted to play some games on it, so I installed UnrealTournament 2004. While playing, I noticed that there was what I beleive is red ghosting on my screen. For example, on the select server screen, the servers are displayed in bright white text. When I click on one, the screen goes to connect screen which is total black... and I do see the text from the previous screen for about 2-3 seconds before it fades... same thing happens ingame when there are bright lights close to dark textures, the lights are still visible for a few seconds on the dark textures.

First I wasnt sure if it was normal or not, so I looked around on the forums, and found the Red Ghosting video provided by Geared2Play... I watched it, then I did the very same thing as in the video (put background to black, then opening context menus) and it does the EXACT same thing as in the video... so I beleive I'm cursed with the Red Ghosting issue...

That saddens me a lot, since I was sure this issue was resolved... back in november! That's strange too, because my computer is a Built to Order (BTO) which comes right from asus: so now I am wondering what to do... can I call ASUS for them to RMA my laptop and replace the chip in order to fix the problem?

    Thanks for reading me,
    One sad Math

BTo that comes right from asus? Since when did asus sell bto or any notebook direct to end users? They never did. Who is your vendor and what site did you buy it on? You should contact your vendor. This problem was never sold. I repeatedly said "dealers must screen for this" even to this day. Its not a curse btw. Pretty easy swap. When this was at its peak we offered 24-48 hour turn around. Really not a big deal. Asus has also about a 48hour turn around for it. But thats what i think

Update on my red ghosting unit.

My reseller is going to replace my screen for me and take also take a look at my creaking case. I took it in and showed Adrian at PacificNotebooks my laptop and he said no problem. Going to take it in on the 27th and they will hold it for 48hours.

    This makes me happy :D

Since resellers are replacing the screens I would say this problem is resolved, even though the problem screens are still floating around.

    Cheers,
    Mike

Thanks for the quick answers guys.

To clarify things a little, I did not call ASUS and say deliver me a laptop... I went to a computer reseller compagny and asked for a Z70Va. ASUS laptops are labeled "special order" there, meaning they order them only when someone ask one. So when I asked them, I had a few options, A. Buy a barebone and parts and build it myself, B. Buy all things and get it built by reseller, or C. Reseller orders a BTO directly from ASUS and give it to me... so I choose C, thinking that getting it built "directly" from ASUS was a good idea...

But anyways as I am being pointed out, I did think the issue resolved, but it was not. SO this is in part my mistake... but the important thing is now I know that it is a relatively easy problem to solve so I'll just call and get the screen replaced. Also, knowing that resellers or ASUS can do it sure is a good thing!

    Math...that's great to hear~!

No way is it your fault. You sound like those chicks that stay with their abusive boyfriends, saying that they are at fault not the boyfriend, hahahahahahaha.

Not your fault, common belief that if you get it from the source, it is better.

    Happy Holidays~!
