I am having trouble with choosing between these two laptops....

    ASUS S96S T7500 Core 2 Duo 2.2Ghz 2G DDR2 160GB HDD 15.4" LCD 1280x800 Socket P Santa Rosa Compatible Intel 965PM ICH8-M DDR2/667 (4Gb Max) nVidia Geforce 8600M GS
    $1199.99

    or

    ASUS F3KA-A1 AMD Turion 64 X2 TL60 2.0 Ghz Radeon HD2600 512MB, 2GB DDR2 RAM, 160G HDD, 15.4" WXGA
    $1249.00

it seems like Intel's 2.2Ghz is more worthwhile but I heard AMD is better....and any thoughts in the video card?

and if it helps, the laptop will replace my desktop...soo...also hoping the laptop can last me four years

    or any other laptop option

The F3Ka definitely has a much better graphics card, but the S96s definitely has a far superior processor. You could look at the F3Sa, which is essentially the F3Ka except with Intel processors. It retails at $1299 I think, but I don't know when the ETA is.

so that being said, ati's 2600 is better than the 8600M GS?

so what is worth sacrificing? video card or processor?

depends on what you need it for... the 8400 GS can game some as well, just not as much as the ATI can

I like my notebook BUT i suggest that u go for f3ka-x1 for the following reasons

    1. It looks flashy compared to the "normal" look of s96s. and the cam swivels
    2. 2600 is better than 8600GS performance . (IQ is somewhat debatable but i always liked ATI IQ)
    3. the diff between x1-A1, memory, 200mhz speed, HD. I think if u add mem(around 30bucks for stick now) u could save money coz that speed and HD won't influence performance that much.
    4. warranty. 1yr accidental damage standard. s96s doesn't have this warranty

The TK-56 has half the cache of the TL-60 though so it might make a bigger difference than only 200mhz

The X1 is $949 on newegg so it's really cheap. the onlu reason why I didn't buy the F3Ka is the WXGA screen, 1280x800 feels to low for me since I'm used to 1280x1024.
