    Hi,

I would just like to seek your help regarding my S96J which recently encountered some display issue.

My problem is regarding my laptop screen where on some portions of which, red, static like pixels (moving) appear. This would appear sometimes after bootup or after opening some applications but would be gone after some time. The red pixels, when it appear, covers the whole screen on "windows startup screen". I actually thought its only software or virus related but I already formated my harddisk but the problem still occurs intermittently. I also tried getting some screen shots through "Print Screen" but it doesn't seem to catch it telling me problem should be on the video processing or LCD.

Anyone who encountred the same problem? And what could be the root cause and fix?

Ive attached some pictures for reference. Appreciate your immediate feedbacks.

    Thanks,

    Jaime

it looks as if something is wrong with your lcd or gpu. have you plugged your notebook into an external monitor? if you see the same problem with the external, you need to replace your gpu. if it isn't duplicated on the external monitor, there is something wrong with the lcd. first thing i would check is to see if the cables connecting the lcd to the motherboard are properly intact...though this may be out of your comfort range. it may be best to send it back to your reseller for an rma.

Thanks for the response EJL. I was kinda thinking the same thing though hoping it was a known S96J issue that could be fixed through DIY easlily. I would want to check what you mentioned myself though the unit is still under warranty. Its a hassle though having to bring the laptop to the shop for an assessment. Anyway how hard is it to access the LCD cable?

You can look on the forum for an 'S96J disassembly manual' or if there is none, ask for one (there is a dedicated thread I believe, check the sticky). That will give you an idea about the complexity of the procedure.

But first, try it w/ external monitor as ejl suggested.
