I've had my S6f since last October and have used it without issue (Windows XP). About a month ago it started random freezes, always when it was sitting idle and not being used. Ctl-Alt-Del would not work, it was frozen "solid". The only thing to do was to hold power button down for several seconds.
I used the recovery discs to reintall anew. Worked for a few days and then random freezes started again. I replaced the memory, still froze. I used recovery discs just last week (again) and it worked for a whole week and I thought it was fixed, but it froze yesterday...again I wasn't working on it it was just sitting idle at my desk.
I've used NB Probe to check temperatures and they report as normal. CPU temps has been around 51 C and hard drive in the 40's C. Seems more of a hardware issue. Any thoughts from anyone?

Hmm... it really does sound like a peculiar problem. Perhaps try getting your hands on another hard drive and see if your hard drive is the culprit. If that's not it, it must be something on the motherboard that's defective...

I have had my HP desktop for three years. It has been freezing the same way you guys are talking from almost day one.
I have called Hp over and over again. Even got a new Hard drive. Still freezes randomly...not all the time.
They claim it has to be spyware....but that is BS...I run two different spyware programs...venus spytrap...and adaware.
You will never figure out the problem.
