Anyone ever use the s-video output on their ASUS laptop to connect to a standard definition tv? Planning on purchasing something similar to this: http://www.svideo.com/sv3rca.html

I'm sure the resolution wont be optimal for most stuff, but it'll be mostly if not only for emulation purposes.

Is there anything you have to setup on the laptop, or do specifically to get it to work? Or is it just a plug & play sort of thing?

Wish I was home so I could try it out for myself now.

Yeah I have done it a couple of times, I just brought a Svideo to Svideo cable about a month ago, just insert the Svideo cable and hit FN+F8 so it activates the external output, worked fine, picture quality was not fantastic, but this was on smaller 20-30" TV screens, I have hooked up to a 61 Plasma screen using VGA and that was very good, playing Need for speed etc, was great.

    I have a W3J.

A reply! Awesome. Glad to hear that, thanks.

    Can anyone vouch for svideo.com?

I have a G2S-B1 and found that with modded/stock drivers I have issues connecting to a tv via svid, but I have not been able to test other cables or tvs. It seems that the tv receives a varying signal, thus changes from wide to standard. It is not the tv or port as I tried it with an older laptop and its ok. Maybe a single defect or issue, but I don't use it much, so I don't mind.
