My original w3v hard drive failed so i just got another one and tryed to use the restore CD to boot up windows, all i get is a error upon boot,

It says please insert boot disk, even when i set the bios to boot from CD first, the CD looks fine with no scratches, but it just not load.

    Any suggestions?

Press "ESC" key at Asus logo and choose boot from CD/DVD.

Then it's possible the disk has gone bad.

Do you have other bootable disks to try it with? Like a live Linux or a FreeDOS or whatever. If it boots from those probably the recovery disk is bad. If it doesn't it's more likely it's the optical drive itself.

Also if there are several restore CDs, make sure you insert the first one (labeled 1 out of 2 or how many they are). It is possible only that one is bootable.

DAM!!! looks like my DVD drive is duff. Loaded up windows using another drive and cant get the drive to read anything.

This sucks, i have had 3 thing break on my w3v in the last three months, first the screen, then the harddrive, now the DVD drive.

Can anyone advise on were to get a replacement drive?
