On the palm rest area on either side of the touchpad of my new Asus M50SV, there are kind of large stickers. I was just wondering if I remove these will it leave a sticky residue where they were? I want to remove them but I don't want that nasty residue to be there.

After removing the stickers on my F8SN there was minimal residue present. Nothing a wet cloth or even just rubbing your hand over didn't remove (I expected it to be much worse)

I would guess Asus thought of this and bought stickers that remove without residue. I love stickers like that.

I just removed stickers of my v1jp, bluetooth sticker left no residue, the ati left small ones around the edge, the Intel sticker left hardly any but the worst was the windows one leaving an exact shape of the sticker but in residue. best way to get rid of it is to rub all of it into one area then u can pick it up, wet cloth will clear any left.

You can use Acetone, but that might take your pain too, although if you use perfume/aftershave sprays its fine, but stinks

I would NOT recommend using Acetone and perfume/aftershave!!!

Acetone is used in paint thinners and acts as a solvent so you might want to stay away from that because there is a good chance that it will also remove the paint on your laptop and I guess the alcohol and other unknown substances contained in various perfumes/aftershaves can also do harm to your paint.
It might have worked for a few people but I wouldn't take any chances.

If there is any residue, try to remove it with a wet cloth or use a special purpose notebook cleaning liquid.

My stickers on my C90S came off very easily without any residue.

Theres a thread on this already, but in summary:

    Use scotch tape.

    1. Peel off all your stickers by hand.
    2. Get yourself an appropriate sized strip of scotch tape. (all depends on the size of the sticker)
    3. Stick one end of the strip down onto the surface of your notebook, past the residue.
    4. As you lay down the other end, you'll notice that it covers the residue. This is good.
    5. Rapidly stick and unstick the free end of the tape. As you do this, the residue will transfer from your laptop to the scotch tape.

For tougher residue, you will need to frequently change the strips of tape.

PM me if you find these instructions lacking and i shall perhaps take some pictures of the process.

Nice work Fusive, I usually just do it with the sticker though, or sticky tape that has left some residue.

Well I used masking tape instead of scotch, but it really worked well on the residue. Thanks for that suggestion. :p

At first I wanted to remove the palm rest stickers as well, but then I decided to keep them on. The reason for this is because I have seen my friends laptops with the area where the palms rest, it is very faded. I think with these stickers, it would help prevent having any faded areas.

You'll probably get faded stickers though :D
You can always get these LCD casing stickers, cut out a space for the touchpad, keyboard and other buttons your laptop might have and put it on there.
I took a carbon fibre skin and it looked really good on one of my older laptops.

Rubbing alcohol is all you need to remove stickers and stuff like that, its cheap, its non destructive/abrasive, and you probably already have some.

Baby oil would work too lol but that would be messy.
