I am the current owner of an Asus N50VN-C2S, this model has the WSXGA+ screen 1680x1050. I had no issues with this laptop, until recently this year when a black horizontal line started appearing across the screen. It would sometimes get bigger or smaller, especially when first turned on.

Since I have a 2 year warranty, I decided to send it in for RMA to Asus; when I did send it to them, they could not duplicate the problem. I should have included pictures the first time, so they sent it back to me with no modifications, fair enough, this is understandable if they could not duplicate the problem.

The only thing I had issue was their RMA status page. It indicated that parts were on order, when in fact they had not tested the unit. When I finally received the unit back, the line black line had shrunk, so it was there, but not as noticeable because it was at the very top of the screen.

Several days later, the line came back, very thick, noticeable and annoying. I called Asus again, and they issued another RMA. I sent it back, and this time they did indicate they changed several parts, although I could not check the status of the RMA on their page.

Well, I am typing this on the laptop, and I can say that I am so far very happy with their results. I know in the beginning it seemed as if I had lost hope in Asus, but they finally came through. I am now looking into purchasing their new N53JN lappy with the HD screen.

I am glad Asus is listening to their customers! and that they actually look at these forums!!! This is a good ending story for Asus, and it's understandable that most un-satisfied customers come to the forums to complain, I didn't, I came to give Asus credit with fixing my expensive toy which I need very much!

    Thank You ASUS!!!!!
