Hey guys, I got my a8js today, but I ran into a problem. I wiped out the computer and installed windows xp professional, but now I can't install any games. When I put the cd in the drive it reads it but then it sounds like it just stops reading it and just sits there, I installed the drivers for the dvd drive and everything but I can't figure out what is wrong... Does anyone know how I can fix this?

    Any help is appreciated.

um u have probably done this but did u install service pack 2? though somehow i doubt this would do much. My experience with notebooks is limited until i buy my first one soon.

The drivers you installed, were they the latest from Asus or bundled on a cd that was included with the notebook? if you dont have the latest drivers try check those out.

This is about as far as i can really go, seems to be a bit of an odd problem

Since you manged to install XP Pro I assume the drive can read other DVD/CD disks. Have you tried the cd on another computer to see if it's accessible?

Did you wipe the recovery partition? Try using that to bring up the original config if you didn't and see what happens.

Thats actually kind of interesting, didnt notice that. That would mean others should work. I guess you could try format again but preferably finding a solution to the problem would be easier for you.

Also, the games you are trying to install, are they all of a same disc format? e.g all are actual cds, or are they all dvds?

I believe you hit F9 as you're booting, assuming you didn't delete/overwrite it.
