The first couple days I had the notebook it would startup almost perfectly (after I disabled a bunch of startup programs), ever since 5 or 6 days ago, every time Windows loads up and my desktop shows, the resolution goes from the max all the way to the lowest res. I always end up going into control panel and switching it back up again. Is there any way that the resolution will just stay the highest and not change on startup?

Have you tried updating your GFX card drivers? Did you mess with the registry when removing startup? Maybe try a registry checker.

You can reinstall the GPU drivers from the Driver CD Asus provides, there's a large listing of drivers, it should be clearly labelled VGA Drivers.

Or you can download it from the Asus website, or else where like laptopvideotogo.

Also try a cold boot just to make sure, so go into windows set the res, turn off the notebook and then boot it and see if the res changed to a lower one.

If so then do what i mentioned above.

My system did the same thing, but I was thinking it was related to the windows updates I had installed that day. It hasn't done it since then. I had also updated to the 163.11 drivers, thinking windows maybe did a rollback on me, but that was not the case. The drivers are fine and the past couple days no resolution changes within the first minute or so of booting up.
    hope this helps, Robin
