A couple of weeks ago, I noticed a couple of small bright spots on my screen that weren't there before. They aren't stuck individual pixels - they change colour and brightness along with everything around them, but they're always just a little brighter than the rest of the screen. The spots cover multiple parts of different pixels, they don't have a clear border.

Does anyone know what might be wrong with the screen, and if I need to send it in for repair/replacement? Thanks in advance.

Sorry to bump this, but it's on the third page now and I really want to know if there's something I can do about this problem or if I have to send it off for repairs. Anyone?

All I can tell you is that if some pixels are stuck/dead, there is software out there that sometimes fixes them. It works by repeatedly flashing patterns of color on the screen for a very long time. I don't have a link now but googling "fix dead pixels" should find it.

But from your description it seems the pixels aren't stuck... in which case I don't know. Hopefully somebody else does...

Are you sure they are changing color, or is it just an optical illusion due to the neighboring pixels changing color?

You should also check the warranty conditions before sending in, I think you need to have a few pixels clustered together, or more pixels but spread in several locations, in order for the warranty to be applicable to bad pixels.

They probably are stuck sub-pixels, or "bright dots," which make their pixels at different times appear as different colors they are not supposed to.

I'm not really getting any 'wrong' colours, just a spot where the brightness of the screen is significantly higher than the surrounding area. I've moved stuff around over top of it to test, and it just takes the correct colour and makes it brighter. I'll have to check what the warranty conditions are, and if this sort of thing is included in them.

I tried to take a picture, but my crappy camera phone won't pick it up at all. I wish I could illustrate it better.

OK, I think I understand you now, and yes, you are not describing stuck pixels.
