No, actually quite ugly but it's good spec. for the bucks

I'm seriosly considering A6Ja or A7J to replace my desktop and buy another smaller laptop ( Asus S5 series ) to use as portable.

    Cheers

holy, great benchmarks! looks like it'll be great for the feature it offers.. too bad the battery life is bleh..and from what I read.. the lid prone to scratching. but looks like it'd be great value for the money as long as I dont have to lug it around.

Yes it is a good value. I think this would be a much better choice than those budget Inspirons.

Hmm... the 3DMark05 score is a little disappointing, only 3500. Wasn't the x1600 supposed to get 4k+?

Is the A6J even coming out in the US? I can't find any mention of it and the proportable post doesn't mention it at all.

I'm so confused between the ensemble models and the actual Asus models... gah, why is this so hard!

He's mentioned it in some of the other threads.
It would have been nice if the reviewer had ran both the load test (Classic) and idle/normal usage test (Reader) to get a better idea of battery life.

Based on the Acer 8204 numbers, I'd say the A6ja should get around 3 hours since it has a slightly smaller battery.

I think the tm8200 looks very overpriced compared to the a6ja. The 8200 has a better design ( better material ) and slightly higher spec. but it all depends on how you will use the laptop.
If you're planning to carry it with you a lot, the tm8200 would probably be a better choise. If you going to use it as a desktop replacement, I'd go for the a6ja and buy a second ultraportable laptop to carry around. You can probably get a very good deal on a last year model when the new yonah models hit the market.

The two together won't be that more expensive than one single tm8200.

    Cheers

    thank jens

guess im off back to china or taiwan to go pick one up and not wait for the a6ja.

only reason i was plannin to pick up the a6ja was due to people tellin me asus was a better buy over acer but since you said the tm is a better takin out laptop then i guess imma pick up the tm8200

    thanks again

In Sweden it's approx USD 1600 incl. Swedish VAT ( Tax ). In US I'd guess the price will be USD 1300-1350. Not bad cosidering the spec eeeh..

    Cheers

The TM 8200 is better buildt ( partly carbon fiber ). If you plan to use the laptop for several years, this is a big plus for a portable.

    Ah, thank you!
I was just staring blindly at weight and size, which is pretty much the same for both.
A6Ja or 8200? I'd say the biggest differences are price, and case & design (like oresund pointed out). The Acer simply does look nicer. And yeah you probably get a WSXGA display, a little more HD space and more RAM. But still, it's a lot of money. The 8200 cost 65 % more here in Sweden than the A6Ja.

Wow - huge price difference. The A6J does indeed look rather "plane Jane" though. A little flair never hurt :)

i found at 1 page it is writing for hdd of A6J is 4200RPM.And i am thinking to buy from that page cuz that is the cheapest site i can get at here.So i confused. When i read the some reviews of this labtop,it is writing 5400RPM so strange. So is it 100GB 5400RPM or 4200RPM?Cuz it makes big difference!

Hi guys, I was in need of a new laptop well my first laptop ever. I decided to get the A6JA, gotta tell ya it has exceeded my expectations.

For those who are wondering what the difference is with the A6JA and A6QJA well there is absolutley no difference.

The specs I got was the A6JA/A6QJA T2400.

    Intel Core Duo T2400 1.83ghz
    15.4" WXGA Colorshine Technology
    DVD-RW
    100gig HDD
    ATI x1600
    1gig RAM
    Windows XP Pro.

Not only is this Laptop quality, the performance is excelent and to top it off
the price cannot be beat. A few people don't like the look too much but I think it looks rather sleek and clean.

I got mine for $2200 AU.

Did your Australian market A6J come with a 4200 or 5400 rpm drive?
