Could anybody that owns a Z63a please tell me how noisy the fans are? The reason is that I plan on buying one and using it everyday in my college's library, so I don't want to disturb anybody with the noise.
Also, is it too heavy? I'll be carrying in my backpack everyday from my house to college and vice versa.

    Thanks in advance. :D

Perhaps they will put a dothan pentium m in there for you which run cooler and have less fan noise. Weight is a personal preference.

As long as you don't game or do anything heavy, Pentium M's are quite quiet as they are cool. But some fans on laptops are crazy loud.

    Wheres AuroraS? :p He'll help!

The Z63a is an excellent system. Very small and light. Easy to carry around. It's pretty quiet, too. You won't get the "Wow-factor" as you would with a W3V, but with some configurations, you can get a couple hundred less than the W3V.

The fan runs constantly... but it isn't too loud. In a SMALL, QUIET/SILENT room, it's noticable (your bedroom at night)...
but in a library, it will not be audible...or shouldn't be audible, at least (unless there's something wrong with your fan).

As for weight...it really is subjective, but I think it's pretty light and very portable.

Thanks to all for your answers... :)
I'll definitively buy the Z63a now.

By the way how is this for the configuration:
    Pentium M 760 - 2.0Ghz
    2 x 1GB of ram - Kingston DDR2 533 PC2 4200
Hitachi 7200rpm 80 GB hard drive
    Regular optical drive
No OS - Will be installing XP pro and Linux by myself

I'll be doing tons of programming (I'm a computer science major), I'll install programs such as Visual Studio 2005, Macromedia Flash and Dreamweaver 8, Adobe Photoshop CS2 and Office Pro 2003 but no gaming at all though (maybe chess once in a while :p ) and so performance is a must for me.

Looks like a great configuration...very powerful.
That hard drive may make the right palmrest quite warm...but as long as the hard drive isn't stressed for long periods of time, I guess it shouldn't be bad at all.
