OK, I've been doing quite a bit of research and my head is about to explode. :D

These are some models I'm considering and I would appreciate feedback on the them - pros and cons. All of them have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and 320GB 7200RPM HDD.

    ASUS N61Vg-A1 ($1150)

    - 16" HD WXGA LED 16:9 (1366x768)
    - Intel P8700 Core 2 Duo 2.53GHz
    - nVidia GeForce GT 220M
    - 4GB DDR2 800MHz

    ASUS N61Vn-A1 ($1250)

    - 16" HD WXGA LED 16:9 (1366x768)
    - Intel Q9000 Core 2 Quad 2.0GHz
    - nVidia GeForce GT 240M
    - 4GB DDR3 1066MHz

    ASUS N51Vn-A1 ($1230 - $100 MIR = $1130)

    - 15.6” HD 16:9 LED Backlit Wide screen (1366x768)
    - Intel T9600 Core 2 Duo 2.8GHz
    - nVidia GeForce GT 240M
    - 4GB DDR2 800MHz

    ASUS G51Vx-X3A ($1199) newegg exclusive?

    - 15.6" 1920 x 1080
    - Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 2.53Ghz
    - nVidia GeForce GTX 260M
    - 4GB DDR2

I don't intend on doing much gaming and even if I do it will be with titles that are several years old. This laptop will be for day to day use at home. I wish the N61Vg-A1 came with the Intel P8700 Core 2 Duo 2.53GHz since I don't think I'd really take advantage of a quad. It does have a nVidia 240M, but the cpu is only 2.0GHz.

How do the keyboards and touchpads compare?

well without knowing what games specifically that you are goign to play. it sounds like you are trying to make this laptop the main house hold laptop and not be carrying it around very much. if so i would think taht the 15inches is a little small for that.

the other thing i would do is try to see these laptops firsthand. usually at best buy you have a decent selcection.

so you plan on travelign with it? moving it around in your house?

if you just plan to surf the net and write some word documents any of thsoe would be fine. but the g51 looks like the best specs our of all of thsoe three.

I do plan on using the laptop in different rooms. If I traveled with it it would very minimal. It's not like I'll be out and about with it on a weekly basis.

Currently I'm using a 15" Dell Inspiron which is a little small for my liking.

I mostly plan on web surfing, streaming or watching downloaded HD content, word documents, some gaming. I plan on building a PC soon so that's what I'll game on. I haven't gamed on PC in a couple of years. Lost interest plus my PC was 6 years old - it recently bit the dust - so it would struggle on any new games if I had them. I've been more into console gaming which I enjoy on 42" and 50" plasmas. I do enjoy FPS much more on PC so the new desktop may motivate me to get back into it.

I did find another laptop in my price range. It's the ASUS N71Vn-X1 available from CompUSA or Tiger Direct. Their reseller ratings are decent, but not as good as xoticpc, although some here show links to ASUS laptops at Best Buy and it has horrible ratings. I'm guilty of buying there myself despite the bad reviews.

    N71Vn-X1 ($1,199.99 - 8% Bing cashback = $1103)

    - 17.3” 1600x900
    - Intel P8700 Core 2 Duo 2.53Ghz
    - NVIDIA GeForce GT 240M
    - 4GB DDR3 1066MHz
    - 320GB 7200RPM
    - Blu-Ray / DVD±RW

I like the 1600x900 as well as the P8700 as opposed to the Q9000 quad in the N61Vn-A1. Although I didn't want it, the Blu-Ray was unexpected at this price.
I also looked at the N71Vn-A1, but its also has the Q9000 quad and was a little out of my desired price.
