I owned an z63a but it recently got stolen... I'm looking in getting a core duo one and thought about going even smaller than 14". The ensemble ones are a bit too expensive for me so I was wondering if they would have a core duo version of z33a? or maybe even a 13" line coming out?

You'll have to wait about a month or so... but there is 13.3" barebone system coming called the Z35f.

Maybe he doesn't necessarily dislike the old touchpads, but the new ones have cool blue led at the bottom :p

Some folks were talking about the new ones being a little stiff, and awkward to use (can only tap in the corners), but I'm also hoping to see these new touchpads on the upcoming barebones systems.

We were first worried when ASUS told us no more Z33Ae, but after seeing what's replacing it [Z35F]... oh ya. :D

thanks, z35f seems to be what i'm looking for. Anyone know the pricing for it? does it have bluetooth? are there specs on this yet?

i pray it doesn't use micro dimm ram just to save me a few more bucks

Not sure... I would guess so, but that shouldn't be a deal breaker for you.
Dual channel doesn't make that big of a difference with Intel's notebook chipsets.
You can always e-mail me to get updates on upcoming models too.

Pricing info not yet available... you'll have to wait for it to come out for that.
Bluetooth, not confirmed yet [hopefully it does].
Specs, what kind are you looking for?
Most of it's obvious, but let me know what you're looking for.

The z35a only had one slot for ram. It did not support dual channel. If the z35f ever comes out it will support dual channel ddr667. It is advertized in white but word is it will be in black. The entry price for barebone retail will be set at about $800 so not that far from the current z33ae. Bluetooth will be an option or standard but it will be there whether a special dealer upgrade or standard.

Eddie, thanks for the info! I think I remembered seeing that z35a review you posted, that's what made me ask the dual-channel question.

So, all the different battery sizes will have the same form factor? Really?! That's incredible, it makes up a lot for not having a modular optical drive. I know that the previous 12" Asus notebooks didn't have them, but I was hoping that some of the new notebooks would incorporate this feature. So far, it looks like only the W3J has this because it's in the older chassis. Honestly, the modular optical bay was one of the things that first got me looking seriosuly at Asus notebooks. Again, not a deal-breaker by any means, but a really cool feature imo.

Many thanks to c9tech and geared2play for contributing info here. I'm getting excited for this little notebook. ;)

Before [Pentium-M single core] last letter meant...
    A - Integrated Graphics
    V - Dedicated Graphics

Now [Core Duo] last letters mean...
    F - Integrated Graphics
    J - Dedicated Graphics
