The second one that you posted seems to be out of stock at most places. Newegg has a newer model for that called the n80vn- x5. It has pretty much the same stuff but doesn't come with the carrying case/mouse but it has a 7200 320 gig hd. Someone got an external bluray with that I think wolfpup and he said it was running fine.
Note that newegg did jack up the price $30 from $989 to $1019 and now say the original price is $1049, but it is really $1019.99.

no yeah definately seems like good deal, but does newegg customize laptops for blue-ray i dont see an option?

but even though i really want a blue-ray i think i might dive in and get it anyways because i dont think ill be able to find anything better for the price.

So I checked with Newegg and they can't customize, but i decided to call Asus directly and they told me there was no blue-ray drive for that specific model. Although, there is a blue ray drive that will fit and they said 225$ USD... so I think I'm sold on this one unless somebody wants to convince me otherwise.
