sometimes my laptop doesn't boot up in the correct desktop, i'm the only user on this computer with guest account turned off.

sometimes it'll take a long time to boot up, give me that "preparing your desktop" loading line and boot up something that looks like a freshly reformatted system, it would ask me to log out to bring my normal desktop back. so i do that.

i don't understand what this is or how to get rid of it, my brother says it's something with ati multiple desktops or something?
