    Hey,

I'm thinking about getting an Asus N50VN or N80VN, but can only find customizable notebooks at xoticpc.com. They have a three different screen resolutions for the N50VN, but the highest (1680x1050) only has options for P9xxx or T9xxx. I was wanting a P8400 or P8600. Also, the wireless used by all of them is the Intel's 5100 while I am looking for the 5300 or an Atheros chip. Does anyone know another site with customizable parts or barebone machines? If not, how hard is it to switch out the wireless component?

    Thanks

The N series are Asus Ensemble notebooks, meaning everything is pre-built by the manufacturer. If any Asus resellers are offering any sort of customization (except for OS), especially with the CPU, then you will forfeit all warranties from Asus and will have to rely on the reseller's warranty (usually just 1 year unless you pay extra). Is there any particular reason why you want a P8600/P8400? You can buy a 5300 wifi card from amazon and install it yourself... it should be a relatively painless task and take no more than 10 minutes.
