I just want to tell my RMA story. I need a laptop (my first one). And my cousin in USA helped me bought it. I ordered a G50Vt-X3. It arrived at my cousin's house on 11/3/2009. After some checking, he found out that its blu-ray drive is DOA. And my RMA story began.
    17/3/2009: First contact with ASUS.
RMA label sent to my cousin (I don't know exactly the day)
23/3/2009: It arrived at ASUS. The status is "Repairing".
The god-damned status "Repairing" is active for a long time.
9/4/2009: Its status changed to "Ready for shipping".
10/4/2009: Status changed to "Repair Finished".
11/4/2009: My cousin received it at his doorstep. Everything was good.
Nearly one month for ASUS to reseat/ replace a drive. But the service is quite acceptable. Just isn't as good as I expected. Someone said that they have their laptop RMAed for 2-3 days. ASUS service quality is decreased, no longer as good as it was.

    Hi dude,

This is perfectly acceptable. I also did RMA my laptop. My motherboard conked. I gave it to RMA, it took them 18 days to replace the MBoard. Since the RMA center did not have any spare, they had to order it from some place else where. But it was a perfect job well done.

Not many companies give 2 years global warranty.

I bought my machine in Germany and got the RMA done in India :)

Dell by far has the best warranty. they will send you out any part you need to fix your computer next day and you never have to send in your machine. reason why i wanted a dell xps m1730 so bad but stuck with asus.

Thanks for the info, redguardsoldier. May I ask where are you located in the US? I'm just wondering if the quality of service differs from one area of the US to another.

I had an RMA with my old A8Ja in the UK, and it took them about 2 weeks to return with a new DVD drive and a tightened hinge. Pretty good service.

As for my experience in Hong Kong, it was dead easy for users to take their machines to the repair centre, and in the past I've only had to wait for 2 days max for hinge replacement (seems to be an A8J-series-specific issue).

I don't know exactly where my cousin lives (and studies). But it's the western coast. I live in Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh city). Here, I can take ASUS's goods (like graphic cards, motherboards...) to ASUS center and have them repaired.
You're in UK? A lot of people reported that ASUS service's quality in UK is pretty bad.

Maybe Asus treats its business laptops better. I shipped mine on Monday and got it on Thursday of the same week.

If it comes back fixed with no hassles, I would consider it a success.

Are you guys overseas? 1 month in the usa is outrageous. Most of our rma (hundreds now) takes a few days in fremont and overnight back. My only complaint is the lack of email responce and updates. I also have alot of problems with their email system not sending me return labels. they blame it on my aol address. Other then that their service in the states is phenomenal considering this is a home warranty

My cousin is studying in USA. The shipping is really good, overnight as advertised. But the "Repairing" state is the too long, and it's exactly what I complain about.

LOL, go to the HP forum and talk about repairs taking too long. Half the time they dont know where your pc is.

Maybe ASUS need longer time to repair my laptop than geared2play's because he's retailer. But anyway, I'm satisfied :D. Can anyone compare ASUS's service to other brands?

It really depends on the type of warranty people purchase from other manufactures. All standard notebook warranties from other manufacturers are inferior to Asus', however some may provide premium warranty services for a hefty fee which may make it better than Asus' standard warranty.
Also the location of service is greatly variable. Asus US/Canada seems to be the best while in the EU, they are lacking significantly.
