Which Asus model has the most comfortable keyboard? I have large hands and will be typing for long periods of time. Thin and light and ultraportables are my preference.

    Thanks

The Z70Va, W3A/Z63a, and V6 series have good keyboards. Overall, most ASUS systems have good keyboards, actually... nothing spectacular about them, but they're definitely not bad keyboards.

There you go.... I would also add that the old W1 and the new W2 basically have the same keyboard that's on the Z70... so those are both great as well....

On the smaller side........ the W5a (12") is VERY comfortable for a small laptop........ after that going down to the S5 or M5 (z33)... they get to be slightly smaller than FULL size.

... Can't really go wrong with any of them though.

how does your w2 keyboard feel cheaper? I just want to know because technically the keys are identical and the build and for the same size system... Also, under the keyboard on both notebooks is basically solid as a rock.... I'm just wondering if maybe to make it perfect you need some sort of shim... a piece of tape, etc..... Most people love them, but if you don't, I know ways to make it perfect for you..... let me know.

I could be wrong. but the keys on the w2v feel like they are made from thinner plastic than the other pcs the z70 and w3v. the keys i think also depressed more smoothly on the other two pcs. again i havent compared them side by side its just by memory. i remember the z70vs keyboard to me at least was ibm quality.

Im not complaining though the keyboard is fine. its better than alot of other laptops. it feels solid under the keyboard as well. barely any flex.

Justin, have any quick tips you can share? On my z63a, there is a bit of flex in the lower left corner, and middle of the keyboard. the upper left is solid as a rock, and I'd like that same feeling throughout.

Beyond that, the keyboard on this thing is great. I've got large hands (I'm 6'9") and am a programmer, so I'm always using most of the keys. I'd rank this board behind the Thinkpads, but well ahead of dell and lightyears ahead of Toshiba and Gateway.

figure out exactly where it's giving you some flex....... 99% of the time it's not traditional crappy keyboard flex, but rather just a slightly larger gap in the place the tabs slide in...... honestly some times a couple layers of masking tape (just in that little area) .. are enough to put more pressure on it.....

I've also heard of people using double stick tape........ it's only if it's jiggling around ... which only happen to some people.... but it's an easy fix. The notebook is solid and so is the keyboard....... if it wasn't designed to be taken out so easily, it would be as good as a thinkpad without a doubt....... but since it can be taken out with a flick of a wrist...... some tape certainly helps.
