Has anyone has this problem with their unit? It seems to be tied to PowerMizer (nVidia's video card power saving feature), but I'm not quite sure why.

Basically, periodically during playback of audio or video it will skip frames/sound for no real reason, this is with nothing running in the background (aside from the usual Vista crap), and with no virus/spyware/etc. Disabling PowerMizer seems to get rid of the problem for the most part, but when running on battery you obviously don't want it disabled.

Plus, running on battery, even if you should still be able to play standard definition videos at 24fps with no problem with a 9600M GS.

Hopefully I'm not the only one, I have no issues within games so I know the video card is working properly on that level. It seems more like a software problem.

Check that there isn't an abnormal CPU use when the skipping occurs. Even if you have no malware, faulty applications can cause high CPU use.

While we're at it, check also the priority of the Synaptics processes. Are they perhaps set to Above Normal? If so, drop them to below normal and see if that improves things. You could also try disabling the touchpad from the BIOS, for testing purposes. These are solutions for similar (although not identical) issues on the G50 model.

If you suspect this is due to the GPU, try different video drivers.
