I'm a gamer, and these two machines are the best in my price range, I'll upgrade both to 4GB ram, so that doesn't really matter. I'm just looking for opinion on things like screen and build quality differences.
FYI, I'll be playing mostly Company of Heroes and World in Conflict.

for gaming, the gs1 is better but get the m51 better bang for the buck

the m50 also looks far more classy. The screen is not super high resolution but that means you can play all your games natively.its also very bright. The m50 also feels very solidly built and doesn't have a ridiculously large bezel around its screen.

Get the M51SN, the performance of the 9500M GS DDR2 and the 8600GT DDR3 are about the same with 8600GT DDR3 being a little more powerful, but just a tad bit.
you can overclock the M51 a little if you want extra performance. thats what I do.
I play Company of heroes at 1440x900 most settings on high, except shadows and antialiasing off. Also with the 175.70 drivers I get a tremendous amount of custom resolutions available, so playing at 1280x800 looks very good, almost as good as 1440x900, and gives extra performance without loosing too much res.
I get around 45fps, and 30ish during heavy stuff happening. of course you can reduce more settings for even better performance, or O/C a little.
plus you have a better CPU, so I suspect a couple of frames more for you.
As for the rest, M51SN looks much better in my opinion. It is a beautiful machine. -
Thanks guys, I just needed some reassurance.
I've placed my order for the M51 and should get it in a few weeks.
