Does the Asus m3np have a standard keyboard layout? I have heard some laptop manufactures switch around some of the keys.

How is the laptop on fan noise? I need something for school and it has to be relatively quite. Does the fan turn on and off depending on workload? What about heat? Will the notebook get hot enough to stir-fry some veggies and cause me to never have children if I set it on my lap for a couple of hours?
    :)

Lastly, kind of a strange question but are the custom Proportable asus notebooks still Asus branded or have they been rebranded Proportable? (Do they have Proportable stickers/case badges on them or Asus markings)

I *think* Justin/Proportable puts the "Built On ASUS" case bages on them...

If you go to the homepage of this site, you can read the review of the PortableOne MX; it's just an M3Np rebranded as a PortableOne computer.

From what I've heard, fan noise isn't an issue and it doesn't get hot...

I think it's their old one... their current one is "DQ Something Different"

The fully custom notebooks like the M3 are not "asus" branded... they are "built on Asus" branded...... which we use for our internet sales..... magazine and phone and local sales we use our proportable badges..

Take a look at some of the links at the link below.. just to show off.. I think you can find some of the things we do when it isn't branded "built on asus":

before it tears my life apart I've got to do something about it. I've got a new car being delivered in less than 6 weeks... I'm sorry to tell everyone, but I think I'll be out at 5pm sharp for a while..... :) . However, I might set up a W5/M5/W3 with an edge connection in the car..... which means I'd have access....... which is not safe for me. If I use a W5... I'll host a webcam of my to Justin's driving experience.. lol

    Thanks,
    Justin

Leo's my bud... Did you see him with our S5 last year? :) ... he's a powerbook guy but he loved the S5. He got fired and I stopped watching.. He's on Call for Help in Canada now and he bought a W1 from me for the show... he uses it when doing windows demos.... most of the time his co host is working on it though.....

After he left Patrick was in charge of reviewing our dothan M6.... it was one of 4-5 dothan cpu's in all of north america.... at the time we got lucky because sony, dell, ibm, hp I think were the only other one's with one. PArt of the deal to get them was a review in laptop magazine which we all did and a review by tech tv. Well the M6 goes to tech tv and we sent them a beast.. a 1.8 dothan which was the fastest out when they did the review this time last year.... 2gb of ddr333..... and a 60gb, 7200rpm hard drive... they said it was too much to try to compare it to the other systems which came in with a max of 512mb of ram and 4200 rpm hard drives...... Anyway... Pat loved the computer, but by time it got reviewed on the air, Pat was fired too (I got to chat with him a little too for a few weeks, but he wasn't doing that well because of the situation).... So.. what do you know. Kevin Rose handles my M6.... and drops it on it's edge on tv... the best thing about it was after the 10-12" drop... then they did all the testing and the system held up to fall.. But Kevin is still on my ..... list. Anyway.... the final comparison never aired but was listed on the site for like a day....... then g4Tv or whoever cut the screen savers out completely and moved their website... so the review was lost.. I'm sorry.. I guess I'm a little broken up about it still......

    Thanks,
    Justin

TechTV, in my opinion, has gone downhill ever since Leo and Patrick left the Screensavers...
Kevin Rose is okay, but the rest are ... inadequate.

Yeah, on the first new call for help canada I think the w1 sat right infront of the camera, right next toa 15" powerbook.... after that I used to see it with the co-host..

Tech TV canada is still good.... don't ask me how I get it since we're obviously in the states, but I do catch it. Tech TV canada wasn't bought out by the morons at comcast...... Comcast had a fire sale and started with the best person there which also happened to be the most expensive........ leo...... I'm pissed about how they treated him...... and also pissed they ruined great exposure for our notebook..... no one was watching tech tv during that time due to all the crap that was going on with the channel.

    Thanks,
    Justin

Leo's great. That Amber girl (co-host) on Call for Help is quite cute... techie girls are always a turn on [ ;)]
I've never noticed the W1 on Call for Help before... too bad I don't have that channel anymore.
I wonder why they got fired... they were the soul of TechTV.
Now it's just another game channel...
