Ok, I love Asus in most places. I love the look of them, I love how well designed they are, and I love the price they give you for what you get. My problem si with the weight and the battery life. Does anyone know of a 14 or 15 inch widescreen asus laptop with 3+ hours of battery life that can be taken to classes each day and other places also. any ideas are welcome. If they are coming in the next couple months that is great, Im not buying for a couple more months.

Im not sure of model numbers, names etc... But if you were looking for long battery life and less weight, here are a couple of "points" you should look for. The laptop should be 14 inches or smaller, It should have an integrated gpu (if you are not using graphic intesive programs), It should have (preferably) and Intel CPU, though the AMD TL-61 isn't that bad. If you are only doing word processing, web browsing etc.. You should look for a cpu that isnt clocked too high eg: 1.66 ghz (T5550(i think) If you cover these main items, you should find a model that will suit your needs. (I'm going to find one for you anyway)

Well weight is not much of an issue as long is its no more then like 6 or 7 lbs. I am more worried about the battery life, I want like atleast 3+ hours, and some Asus laptops are only getting an hour. And I really need a 15.4 inch screen because I need the screen real estate. I will do another FAQ in a bit.

There are two new Asus models coming out soon that you may be interested in. Both will have Penryn CPUs as standard or an option, and both have a 9 cell battery available, so you should be good on your battery requirements.

Here's the links for more information on them.

    Asus M51Sn

    Asus X55Sv

I have no estimates, but I would guess that at least one of them will be around $1,500.

If you're looking for a budget solution, I'd suggest something from the A8 line with integrated graphics. 14.1 widescreen, and they last 3 hours+ (I checked myself for the A8He).

Specific model numbers: A8E, A8HE, A8LE. All Intel CPU (Core 2 Duo, Core Duo, Core Duo respectively, I think).

Problem: I don't think they'll last more than 2 years being carried every day to school and maybe abused a little bit. Maybe they will, with great care.

You will probably not find an ASUS laptop with dedicated graphics that easily beats 3hours. They are generally around 2.5 currently. Maybe some smaller portables with 9-cell batts will get more.
