I was just wondering if it's possible to set up your external monitor to show another desktop rather than just ghost the one off the laptop. I think it would be cool to run games and maybe surf a webpage such as WoW and Thottbot or something...

Nope, unfortunately, you can only, either send a signal to your LCD or send one externally through DVI/VGA/etc.

If you get dual external monitors however, you can do that. WoW + Thottbot/Allakhazam = easy questing :)

What laptop are you talking about? Every laptop I've used in the last few years lets you have an extended desktop using the laptop LCD and an external monitor.

Go to Display properties, under setting, check "Extend my Window desktop onto this monitor" for the external monitor. That way, your desktop will extend to the second monitor. The problem is when you have a game set to Full Screen mode, you can't really use the extended desktop. If you can run games in window mode, than you can do Wow / Thottbot like you want.

Oh, my bad, completely forgot about that :p

Though, I tried that a few times before, never worked for me. Guess I'll have to try it again, and thanks for the guide dug^2 :)
