    Hi everybody,
I was waiting for W3J- but I need the laptop :D
I just wonder if any of you have any experience w/ LG notebooks, flex, quality, etc.
What do you think about S1? is it worth?
is kinda expensive but i think it looks really nice.
GPU score is about the same +-4000 3d mark 05.
LG S1 has merom T7200, and W3J- will use T5500 (or something like that, 2MB L2).
Any kind of help and advices will be appreciated.
    Thanks.

For the LG S1 have a look here:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=71487
    and here:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=69108

And yes when merom comes to these notebooks, then yes it will have those CPUs.

At this moment will you be using it for school, you may want more batterylife, since you can get a total of 5-5.5 hours from the W3J, with the modular bay battery.

Both have different styling, and both are pleasing to the eye.
    Both have good quality.

The W3J is more portable, btu the S1 has a higher resolution screen.

You may want to fill out the FAQ.

    Thanks Danny,
I've seen those reviews before :D
I think 2.5 hours is enough for me, I'll be almost always connected to the light.
I think that the biggest pro about W3J is hot swappable bay and of course the portability.
If i buy the LG notebook I'll probably buy the one w/ WXGA/1 GB ram, because i dont have enough money for the other model right now.
BTW i got one question, Will RAM update void LG warranty?

And I already filled the FAQ but my options are these 2 computers, I just need to decide :D , Thanks anyway.

The above post was not from Danny, this is Danny, we have a few guys posting here, not just me, so in our Signature, we use "notebook team".

S1 beats W3J hands down if you don't consider the price(quite high) and size(15.4"), M002A9 is the only( AFAIK ) 15.4" WSXGA+ matte screen now, quite expensive but quite popular.

When you compare W3J and S1, we need to treat W3J as low price notebook, the deciding factor should be: if size and money is not a concern, then S1, if yes, the W3J which is also a masterpeice if you don't compare to S1. How nice it is? I think if you compare S1 to W3J, it is like you compare W3J to A8Jm.

S1(T7400) will be available in Canada this Friday, fisrt shipment for Canada only has 10 units, I sold 5 of these before arrival :)

MilestonePC; Do you have any long-term info on how the finish on the S1 has been wearing? Are people finding it easy to maintain scratch-free?

    Hi,

I suppose the finish on the t1 and s1 are the same. Since my dad owns a t1 I can tell you that there are a few scratches after about 3 months even with my dad being a very careful person regarding his laptop.

I might be able to post a picture tomorrow.

    Sw00p

P.S.: somehow this thread is more a discussion of the LG S1 then a asus-associated thread ^^

with the poll in an asus forum I think you can see what the outcome will be..that said if i had an lg i'd have to be even more careful with it than my asus as the entire thing is made out of that glossy plastic..compared to just asus's brushed aluminum lid

    Thanks to everyone.
If I decide to buy the LG I'll buy the one w/ merom T7200 :p , 400 extra dollars is too much, but that screen would be great.
But i got one question, is the Direct Media control included in the one w/ T7200?

Sw00p, the picture would be great, i hope you can post it.
And yes sw00p this thread is kinda more a discussion of the LG S1 :) but since i really like asus notebooks i wanted to see the opinions.

    thanks.

On the first picture you can see the scratches really god. Actually it looks worse on those pictures then it really is.
The second picture is done with the flash turned on on the camera. I just made it for comparing purposes, because how much you can see the scratches almost only depends on the lighting.

The LG S1 comes with a plastic sheet that covers the top of the lid, if you want you can keep that clear plastice on it to protect the lid.

And as swoop stated, the scratches will not be noticeable unless in direct light, or unless you have deep scratches.

Well I already ordered the LG S1, because I can't wait more and I liked it a lot (Very hard decision).
Reviews says that screen has excellent viewing angles, but it may be a little dark for some users.
