I recently bought a K55VM model laptop and it shuts itself. It has 2GB 610M, 2,3GHz i7 and 8GB ram on it. But i cannot run BF3 even with the lowest settings. It is overheating and shutting itself after 5-10 min gaming. I don't think there is dust on the fan because laptop is new. I also updated and checked BIOS for any settings and there is no such thing. Any help?

I don't really have a solution but laptops aren't really thermally viable for gaming, especially demanding games like BF3. You could maybe try some kind of laptop cooling stand or try to raise the distance between the laptop and the surface to allow more air to flow through.

I am already using a cooler pad which is not useful at all.

run a temp program and have it so it logs the temps, to see if really the heat is the problem, if it is,you could always re-apply the thermal paste of the heatsink, or send it to Asus, or accept the fact your laptop is not able to run such game

G55 plays BF3 on Ultra with no sweat. So laptops have game :)

A cooling pad takes at best 5°C under heavy load.

Your laptop is not design for any high loads. I don't think you can do much about it.
