I don't actually have personal experience with this (been out of the tech loop for a long time), but it sounds to me like it went through every device in the boot order list and didn't find anything to boot to. This means that your OS isn't installed (was it supposed to be?), or the boot order list isn't set correctly. I'd go into Bios and check the boot order.

If you need to install the OS, then yes, you'll put the Vista Disc in and then boot again (you might need to put your DVD drive in the boot order in bios).

Where'd you order the G1s from? Was it customized beyond stock?

I think it varies from computer to computer--I've seen F2, F12, on toshiba laptops you hold esc. There should be a screen that appears that has all of the boot options on it.

I got it from Xotic, and yes it is customized, I went with Vista Ultimate since I am using it for work as well as gaming.

ALso if i do have to install Vista, do i install the drivers after that from the disk. (I dont want to install everything like splendid)? I am not exactly sure how to go about installing all the drivers?

Again thank you all very much for you adivce/help. I am sorry for the basic questions.

You might want to go to Asus or do a google search on installing drivers. Often, others who have gone through the process before you document which order works the best to install drivers. You have the option of getting the drivers from the disk or from Asus' Website. If you don't want to install the Asus programs than make sure that they don't come bundled with the drivers, and if they do then just get them from the Asus website.

Looks like Xotic didn't install Vista. Use the OS disk to install Vista, use the drivers disc to install drivers, just don't install the bloatware. Pretty simple.

Im in a similar situation, installing Vista 64 and am stuck at "where do you want to install windows" page. Scanning is not finding any proper driver when i put in the driver cd. Have you figured out what to do here? was going to post a new thread but seems pretty on topic with your question.

p.s. look at G1s owners lounge for an order in which to install drivers

This is from one of my other posts. Hope it helps. See below:

This is what worked best for me.

    1. Install the ATK ACPI driver and VGA driver from the CD first. Only install these two.

    2. Restart.

    3. Install all sound drivers that you need. For the G1S, get the Realtek drivers fromt he realtek website.

    4. Restart.

    5. Install the eSATA, Direct Console, Chkmail, and Bios Flash Utility.

    6. Restart.

    7. Install the AFGENERIC or whatever it's called, ATK Hotkey, Power 4 Gear, and ATK Media.

    8. Restart.

    9. Install the wireless lan drivers.

    10. Restart.

    11. Restart once more.

It took me a long while to find the most optimum order for installing the drivers because some of them are horribly coded and are very sensitive to the order in which they are installed. I have a Turtle Beach Audio Advantage SRM (USB Sound Card) that I use to hook up multiple speakers. In order to get my sound function keys to work with the usb sound card, I had to install the Turtle Beach drivers before I installed the Realtek drivers, but after the ACPI and VGA drivers.

I have not had problems and everything works. I also use the ATKOSD2 for the cool graphics for the function keys. Install ATKOSD2 when you install the ATK Hotkeys.

    Side note:

In task manager, there is an ATKOSD.exe process and an ATKOSD2 process. I do not believe both are needed. The ATKOSD2 is for the cool graphics for function keys and the ATKOSD is the one installed with the ATK Hotkeys. I did a little experiment where I went to the ATK Hotkey folder, found the ATKOSD.exe and moved it to desktop. The ATKOSD.exe did not start up, but ATKOSD2 did and my function keys all still worked. Also, I had removed an unnecessary process.

Some people do say that the ATKOSD.exe process is connected with the ACPI driver.
