First off amazing out of the box just a beautiful laptop. I have a couple of questions though...
1. 36% of my memory is being used when nothing but vista is running...what vista bull**** can I disable so that I can actually use the memory im paying for?
2. does removing the jumpers from the hd's make that big of a difference? Im not to keen with taking apart my laptop but if it makes a big difference ill go get the screwdriver.
Thanks!

Congrats on the purchase!
I disabled a bunch of start up services and my memory is still at 30% so I don't know what's going on. Who knows how to reduce even more system resources? -
1) Best way to do this; Clean install.
2) Um....yea; it determines how the hard drive it set. There should be a picture on the side of it showing what the jumpers do in different positions. -
re: point 1.
Vista memory management/usage is totally different from XP.

Time for yet another of my photoshop pictures
I was waiting for an opportunity to use it
Moral of the story: Unused ram is wasted ram, not the other way around. So your actually using what you paid for. Vista is better with memory than XP and with a machine like this with 4gb it can run much faster. -

Heres a good article on how Vista utilizes your ram different from XP:
