Hi, forgive me if I don't provide enough detail, but I don't know much about this stuff. I just received a G1S but cannot get it online. I am using a Belkin Wireless G router (F5D7230-4) with WPA security but the laptop cannot even detect the network. I had assumed everything would be automatic. My old laptop I'm typing on right now is fine. The Asus is my first and only notebook with Vista, could that be a it's not working?

Sorry I don't run Vista, but are any networks showing at all? Might be better if you post this on the networking subforum.

    The obvious things:

    1. Are the drivers installed properly?
    2. Is the wireless switch ON? There should be a led and a hotbutton for it.

No networks are showing at all.

It says the drivers are up to date and the wireless switch is on (Fn+F2, right?).

Edit: I might not have the most up-to-date drivers for the router. Unfortunately I won't be able to check this until I get home tonight.

Turns out the router doesn't use drivers as it's one of those you configure by typing a number into a browser. According to Belkin this particular router's supposed to natively support vista.

Well it's doubtful it's your router if you're not picking up ANY wireless signals at all. Unless you're living in the stix and the only one around with a wireless network.

couple things you can check... is wireless enabled on the router, is SSID broadcasting turned on?

    jewbilee - yes to both.

I have my old laptop running on the network just fine, and it also on occasion picks up 1 or 2 other networks. It's only on the g1s that it says no network could be detected.
