Hey Everyone, I've been hovering around NotebookReviews for quite some time just reading everything about the difference problems, complaints, praises, reviews etc people had about different brands of laptops and I've decided on going with the Asus G1S due to all the rave reviews of it. I placed the order today. It's quite a welcome upgrade from my Gateway 7426GX. I'm looking to contribute a lot to this awesome community and I'll add my review of the laptop as soon as it arrives. Thanks for the help in my decision everyone :)

I ordered it with an upgraded hard drive: 120 GIG Seagate 7200RPM
    upgraded memory: 4 Gigs
extended warranty: 3 years from Asus

Anyway congrats. The 3 year warranty is a bit overkill for me, but you arent me are you?

Sounds awesome for you all, however I think you may have gone overboard with the santa rosa. It does not make a difference, and the older G1 has a better graphics card. However this is just a matter of preference.

No, the 8600GT is quite a bit better than the Go 7700 on the G1.

Nice purchase - that 4GB of RAM is going to waste if you're not running a 64 bit OS though!

Sweet purchase... I just ordered mine last week from MilestonePC. It should be here sometime this week! I'm stoked.

And yes, the 8600M GT is significantly faster than the 7700 Go.

congrats to you all. The extended service plan that voteccow added is a good thing. Not only has he added peace of mind but hes also guaranteed its resale value longer than anyone else. If i was to buy a 2yr old+ laptop id definately consider and pay more for one that has warranty on it forsures!!!!

When you all get you G1's you'll all say..wow...look at that screen!! lol

Anyone can find Virtual Camera? According to Asus it's included in the software bundle but i can't find it on mine.

8600gs is on par with 7700. 8600gt scores a good 1000 points higher in 3dmark06.

I noticed you guys got the 120GB hard drive.

What did Gentech say about the 160GB 7200 RPM drive?
